Adobe are aiming to take a major step forward in the quest for searchable video content, by incorporating voice-to-text software in Flash's encoding process for FLV files. This would essentially allow Flash to convert spoken words from videos into text stored in the Metadata of the final video file.
Once Adobe crack this, it will open up huge possibilities for the digital marketing community, helping to cement video as a vital tool for any search marketing campaign and also opening opportunities for advertisers to finaly start monetising video content effectively.
Of course it would be foolish to forget the biggest benefactor of such a breakthrough.....the user.
With the onset of Google's Universal Search and the continuing increase in user generated content (thanks to Social Media), searchable video content will give users more power to find exactly what they are looking for.
